Coalescence

An installation made for the Enchanted Visionaries documentary directed by Leah Leyva for the City of Albuquerque’s Virtual Visionaries program. The ice sculptures were inspired by how it felt to be quarantined during the Covid-19 pandemic. People were isolated in their own internal worlds, yet a sense of community and mutuality also developed in this global collective experience. As the ice melts, we come closer to being reunited.

The revolution starts within.

A team project with Ophelia Cornet for the Windows on the Future series by 516 ARTS, Vital Spaces, and The Paseo Project. The installation imagines humans as cicada-like creatures to highlight the potential for using introspection and personal growth as catalysts for revolution and social change. At night, a dual-projected abstract video further explored these themes. The installation was on view at 516 ARTS from July 1st, 2020 to February 20th, 2021.

Plastic Forest

A 10 ft tall installation for Euphorbia Pop-Up’s “Magic & Mythology” event. The installation was inspired by lore of powerful, life-giving trees from cultures around the world. It was made from recycled plastic bottles and plastic bags as well as corrugated polycarbonate roofing, playing with the juxtaposition between natural and artificial. The tree’s color changed in time with the event’s live music and could also be interacted with by tapping on the tree trunk.

¡Chambea! Stage Design

A commissioned DJ backdrop for the “¡Chambea!” event hosted by Brdrless. The archway was projected on and anchored by two glowing agaves made from recycled plastic barrels. The leaves and flowers were made from recycled milk jugs.
